XOOX has been creating some spectacularly good beers and quite consistently too. One of its long term plans was to create a dedicated Japanese Terrace, with a small, well-curated menu of sushi, sashimi and a few other Japanese classics and that is what has recently opened doors. It is a lovely space – partly open to the elements and partly enclosed. The one thing you will really love, and I personally can never get enough of is the steamed 'Edamame' – the plain and the spicy versions are really nice. The 'Okinawa Taco Rice', is a Tex-Mex meets Japanese dish, three mounds of Japanese rice flavoured with edamame, yuzu sour cream and salsa. The ground beef that crowns the rice is great, especially when you mix it all together. The 'Hamachi Carpaccio' is perhaps the best thing for me on the menu – the slivers of yellowtail come with an onion vinaigrette, black garlic and tobiko and chives, with a few other ingredients as well. Light, flavourful and spot on this. The tartare section has some good choices that you could experiment with. The rolls are nice and you may want to try the 'Kappa Maki Roll', The 'Chunky Shitake Roll' and the 'Spicy Maguro Roll'. On my next visit, the 'Cured Mackerel on Rice' is definitely something I want to try. For desserts, you have the 'Japanese Lemon Drop' and the 'Tokyo Tofu Cheesecake' that make a good end.
