One thing is for sure when you head to Ottimo, the meal you will have will be something you will talk about for a long time to come. Chef Vittorio puts his heart and soul into every dish that leaves the kitchen. He travels often and brings back with him a host of ingredients that he very generously uses in his dishes. So may just be lucky on your visit. Start your meal off with the 'Squid and Chorizo' – thinly sliced chorizo, oven baked to a crisp served up with squid that is coated in a chorizo mash base. Quite the play in texture and taste. Vegetarians can try the 'Salt Cooked Onion with Parmesan Chilli and Star Anise'. The trick to this one is the Onion being placed in a mound of salt and baked. The insides are then scooped out, blended with parmesan and stuffed back in. The 'Lobster and Chili Double stuffed Ravioli' is sinfulness on a plate and you are not going repent at all. If you like a bit of a surprise, the 'Agnolotti' has two stuffings separated by a twist – one side has liquid smoked ricotta and the other has morels in a pepper aglio-olio sauce. The 'Vegetable Risotto with Fontina, chilli and berry powders' is a lovely treat. End with the 'Torte Caprese'. I have had Version 2.0 with gold dusting. You may just see another version.
