Fava Bistro has been created perhaps to give you a space to linger over a long lunch with a friend or with a colleague when you a discussing something of importance (or even otherwise). They serve Geist, which is a huge plus for me and considering its popularity across the city, I am sure it’s the same for many others. The menu gives you several ways to customize your meal and put together things of interest. Here is what I have tried so far – the Multi-grain Greek Salad with mixed rains, vegetables, feta and pomegranate is a great one – spot on in terms of taste and the healthy part is quite an incentive. The classic Melon, Watermelon and Feta salad is also a lovely bet. I personally also like the Sicilian Shrimp and Garlic Soup, with tomato, chilli, fennel and lemon. Among the appetizers, the Fava Bean Kibbeh with mixed vegetable goat cheese and toasted walnuts is nice. As is the Mushroom, Broccoli and Onion Sheesh Kebab. The Persian Chicken Jujeh Kebab with its yogurt marinade is nice. You can then move on to the Shawarma wraps – vegetarians and meat eaters both of great choice to go with here. From the Falafel and Hummus to the Harissa Grilled Cottage Cheese to the Lamb Kebab and Avocado (though in the non-avocado season this may not be available). For those who want to play it safe, the pasta in all the classic sauces is available. The mains have nice choices in burgers, pizzas and risottos. My only small grouse with the menu being that after one visit, there may not be too much of an incentive to return.
