INSIDER TIPS

  • This is one of two restaurants in Bangalore where the Chefs know how to make an authentic Kakori kabab. The other is K&K at the Gardenia, the Windsor’s sister property. I like the K&K version but Dum Pukht is where the dish originated
  • You must order the Dum Pukht biryani, brought to your table in its own pot, covered with a purdah of wheat which, when cracked open, allows you to inhale the biryani's famous fragrance
  • There is a certain formality to the restaurant; it is a good choice for a celebration

When they built the Towers wing addition to the old Windsor Manor (now called ITC Windsor), they also built this slightly strange, wood-panelled room for their signature Indian restaurant. Because the idea was to evoke a Raj character for the hotel, the restaurant was given the pointless and slightly silly name, Jolly Nabobs. Fortunately ITC has now junked all that nonsense and this is a pretty straight-forward outpost of the famous Dum Pukht chain. The Chefs come from the Dum Pukht Kitchens and you will find all the specialities that have turned Dum Pukht into Indian’s finest North Indian haute cuisine brand.
