Step into Caprese and you are suddenly transported into a lovely, airy, naturally lit space. Surrounded by walls of glass, you get a grand view of the city and if it pleases you, you can even choose to be seated outdoors. While you browse through the menu you will be presented with a warm bread basket that you will have to consciously stay away from, if you hope to get into the food at all. There are some great choices on the menu – the 'Variazione Di Gambari' – a variety of shrimp in white onion and lemon cream is divine. The 'Caprese Salad' brings together fresh, creamy burrata, tomato, basil and garlic, all brilliantly tying together with EVOO. The 'Calamari Fritos', deep fried calamari with aioli sauce is pleasant. If you would like to do some soup, the 'Pumpkin Soup' has a wonderful grainy texture to it. If you love a good risotto as much as I do, then the 'Mushroom Risotto' is a must. Risottos tend to get boring after the first few bites, but this one packs enough of flavour to make you want more. The 'Homemade Ravioli' stuffed with peas, asparagus and balsamic caviar gets full marks for not going with staid ingredients. The 'Spaghetti With Lamb Ragout' is what comfort meals are made of. As is the 'Eggplant Parmigiana'. As for desserts, the 'Lemon Tart' and the 'Affogato' – 'Vanilla Ice Cream' with hot espresso coffee is the way to end the meal. The restaurant has a full-fledged bar, with a great selection. The 'Negroni' is a personal recommendation. They also have some great tea infusions to choose from.
